News - Nov 7, 2024 Cooks Islands Designs a Polynesian “Trash to Cash” Logo
Infrastructure Cook Islands has completed an exciting initiative to design a new logo and slogan for the upcoming Advanced Recovery and Disposal Fee scheme.
Ms Claytoncy Taurarii, Director Waste Management at Infrastructure Cook Islands, has been instrumental in the design of the logo and slogan.
“We have been working towards the Advanced Recovery and Disposal Fee for some time, progressing though scheme design, legislation, and consultation, etc. During these stages, using the full name or the ACRONYM has been appropriate, but the next step in scheme implementation is community participation – it was time to brand the scheme and create some illustrations for the community to connect with and recognize,” she said.
“We worked with a local design company to help us come up with ideas. The existing Infrastructure Cook Islands logo is a Polynesian tiki which represents the connection between man and nature. We wanted the logo to work in partnership with that logo and be a fun play to clearly illustrate the waste initiative and the “trash to cash” message”.
“We think the end result is great – it is familiar but distinctive and fun. We think our community will get behind it and the Advanced Recovery and Disposal Fee scheme”
The logo and slogan has now been printed on all signage associated with the scheme and will be included in all future communications.
The Infrastructure Cook Islands expresses gratitude to SPREP PacWaste Plus for their support in developing the logo, which was completed by Rarotongan design company GRD, and printing scheme signage.
