Officers from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management, and Meteorology completed audits of five landfills across the Solomon Island provinces.
The audits sought to establish comprehensive data that enable national policy interventions and identify potential areas for improvement in Solomon Island’s waste management system that is financially sustainable.
The landfill audits and Stockpile assessments will complement the CEFAS funded audits in 2019, where 218 samples were collected from households in both rural and urban centres, and 46 from commercial facilities. and will support decision makings for waste management in the Solomon Islands by the ministry.
Data from audits will be uploaded to the country Inform Portal.
